We are happy you are interested in MEF/ASU Band Camp, June 11-15, 2018 and look forward to receiving your application! The band camp is offered by Musician Enrichment Foundation in partnership with the ASU School of Music. Outstanding camp instructors include ASU School of Music faculty members, Phoenix Symphony personnel, and other exceptional performers and educators. Classes include large ensembles, sectionals, masterclasses, electives and faculty recitals. There is a required student performance on Friday, June 15th at 5:00pm. This free performance in Gammage Auditorium is open to camp families and the community.

To apply for MEF/ASU Band Camp, please complete and submit the online application form below. Also, please contact your school band director, or private instructor, and request they complete the brief online form, "Teacher Recommendation", one of the options under "Band Camp" on the menu bar (returning campers do not need to submit a teacher recommendation).  Please pass on our thanks for their time and energy in filling out this form. Their recommendation is helpful in determining camp acceptance and assists with camp planning. Acceptance is based on the applicant's experience, positions available for each instrument and teacher recommendation. Once we have received your application, you will receive an email from Mail Chimp asking you to "Please Confirm Subscription" to the MEF/ASU 2018 Band Camp List. Please CONFIRM THE SUBSCRIPTION!  It is necessary to ensure other camp correspondence.

Once you have been accepted to the camp, please make your payment by clicking on "Payments" on the website menu bar or by mailing a check to: MEF, 435 W. Rio Salado Pkwy #337, Tempe, AZ 85281. Payments for MEF/ASU Band Camp 2018 are non-refundable. If you require financial assistance, please be sure to check the "Request Financial Aid Information" box on the registration form. Early Registration is highly recommended if you are requesting assistance.

Camp hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30am-3:30pm and Friday 8:30am-7:00 pm. More information on MEF/ASU Band Camp 2018, including activities, lunches, faculty roster and the Friday, June 15th, 5:00pm camp performance will be posted in the "Projects" section of this website in 2018. Click on "About" on the menu bar and then click on"Projects"

If you currently use a school instrument, please check with your band director to ensure your use of your school instrument over the summer. Most directors are very happy to allow you to continue using a school instrument for camp but you do need to ask them well in advance. There is a possibility that ASU can provide an instrument for your use, but this service is very limited and only available until May 31. If you think you may need to use an ASU instrument, you must indicate this need in your application. Thank you!

Elective Courses: Please select your first and second choice on your application. Electives are a one hour class, Monday-Thursday.

Elective choices for incoming 7-9th graders include:
Drumming Circle (you do not need to be a percussionist); AZ Beat Lab - Beat Making (learn fundamentals of beat making, sampling audio, and digital performance); and Rhythm and Pitch (the study of music theory through playing your instrument).

Elective choices for incoming10-12th graders include: Advanced Music Theory with Intro to Composition and a variety of Chamber Ensembles.

High School Honor Chamber Ensembles are open by audition to advanced high school students. The audition will be held on the first day of camp at the same time as the band placement audition. Audition material is the Wind Ensemble audition excerpts. The Honor Chamber Ensembles will rehearse Monday-Thursday from 3:35-4:35pm, after the regular camp day is over. There is no extra fee to participate in High School Honor Chamber Ensembles for campers who pay the full camp tuition.
